46,000 RAMs Recalled in Canada Due to Safety Concerns

Ram Recall 2017

Fiat Chrysler is recalling over 46,000 heavy-duty and medium-duty RAMs because their water pumps could be defective. Worldwide, they are recalling almost half a million trucks.

The recall involves the following 2013-2017 models:

  • RAM 2500 pickup
  • RAM 3500 pickup
  • RAM 3500 chassis cabs
  • RAM 4500 chassis cabs
  • RAM 5500 chassis cabs

All 494,417 vehicles that have been recalled have 6.7-litre engines.

Why 46,000 RAMs Have Been Recalled in Canada

Fiat Chrysler says that a water pump bearing can overheat under certain conditions in these defected models. When this happens, the engines can catch on fire.

There have been no injuries or accidents due to the defect. RAM no longer uses the pump involved in the recall.

If you are driving one of the affected models, Fiat Chrysler will be contacting you about scheduling a water pump replacement. Recall repairs are free.
